Why are both the front and back sides beige?

Because merchants need to write on the loyalty cards, the cards are generally not laminated. If the front and back colors are not consistent, the lighter side is easily soiled.

Why is the front beige and the back white?

Because both beige and white are light colors, this color combination is less prone to getting dirty.  While laminated cards won't get dirty during printing, designs that are actually prone to getting dirty are those with one dark side and one light side, and without lamination.
