Our recommended choices:

For dark backgrounds, we strongly recommend using a matte finish. This is because matte materials are very forgiving of scratches.  Imagine a dark background with scratches – they would be very noticeable.

For light-colored backgrounds, we strongly recommend using a matte finish. A matte finish will give the surface a more textured and elegant look.

For highly saturated backgrounds, we strongly recommend using a glossy finish. Glossy finishes better reproduce color saturation, and because of the high saturation of the background, minor scratches are less noticeable. However, it's important to understand that scratches are unavoidable, as this is a handmade product.
